Dr. Phillips is a gorgeous and lively place live. It has almost everything you’d want in a place to call home. Great schools, an active community, endless shops, wonderful restaurants, close proximity to attractions, and this list could keep going on. Saying Dr. Phillips is a hot spot to live in Central Florida would simply be an understatement.
But with the popularity of the area, it seems as though construction of new homes and apartments never ends. This is beginning to cause fears of even more congestion to an already heavily populated area. We all know how busy Sand Lake Road can be seemingly at all times of the day.
The once quiet and laid back Dr. Phillips is becoming the next urban hub in Orlando and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Just now, two large apartment/condo complexes and a new neighborhood alone are being built within miles of each other in what is probably the busiest part of town, near the intersection of Turkey Lake Road, and Sand Lake Road.
The first is being built behind Chick-Fil-A and bordering Spring Lake named, Orlando Lake House by Alta. It boasts the standard luxury apartment features and is springing up quick but is only now further adding to the blockage of Spring Lake. Remember when you could see that clearly when driving down Turkey Lake Road?
The other, named Overture, Dr. Phillips, is a 55+ community and is being built off of Turkey Lake Road closer to Little Sand Lake. If you have been to the Walmart off of Turkey Lake Road, you’ve seen this massive construction site. This while being tucked away from the main roads only has two outlets to enter or exit, both on to Turkey Lake Road. With the congestion already frequently in this area, it’ll be interesting to see how this effects it. Next to this community is what looks to be a new private neighborhood being built called Sand Lake Sound. This looks to be a new lakeside living community that will feed into both Little and Big Sand Lake.
We Love Dr. Phillips and are happy to see how popular the area has come to be. Seeing new faces is always exciting in our happy community, but at what point is the growth in the area going to be too much? Let us know what you think in the comments.
